Job Summary:
Repair mold surfaces back to original orientation by ways of quality controls set in place by LTA Manufacturing. Operator will be held responsible for housekeeping duties as outlined on 5s communication board.
Duties:
1. Check mold repair list with Supervisor for priority repair
2. Evaluate mold and validate repair areas with Supervisor
3. DA with 320grt on perimeter flange
4. Grind all chips or cracks, sanding by hand with 100grt in deep areas. Use air nozzle on sanded area to remove all dust and debris.
5. Wipe all sanded/grinded areas with acetone to assure good adhesion with patching material.
6. Mix up patching material with orange tooling gel and catalyst.
a. 2 pts. orange tooling gel
b. 1/8 can of resin
c. Add Cabosil slowly and as needed to reach proper consistency.
7. Fill all grinded areas assuring that material is laying flat
8. Apply heat lamp to area for expedited cure time.
9. While patched area is curing, clean excess gel coat and fiberglass off of exterior of mold with a grinder or scraper.
10. Grind all perimeter edges of mold
11. Sand perimeter flanges starting with 400grt, 600grt, 800grt, 1000grt.
12. Block wet sand the inside mold surface
a. Start with 400grt. Use purple dye before moving on to 600grt to remove all 400grt sanding scratches.
b. Move on to 600grt, 800grt, 1000grt and finish with 1200grt.
13. Check for pin holes and fill if needed. Re-sand area with 12000grt
14. Completely dry entire mold using white flannel towels
15. Buff mold using TR 315 compound
16. Wipe mold with water to clean residual compound and dry
17. Check scribe lines on all molds and determine if a “re-scribe” is needed
18. Apply PMC mold cleaner to entire mold surface a total of 2 times
19. Apply FMS 100 for a total of 2 coats assuring that second coat is applied 15 minutes after 1st
20. When mold surface has flashed, apply 4 coats of WOLO allowing to flash between coats
21. Record date and work that was done to mold on mold card as well as in “gel number book” verifying that work has been completed on mold.
22. Using 2” masking tape, cover rear bars with both tape and blue wax over tape.
23. Blue wax perimeter edges where grinding has taken place
24. End of shift housekeeping in accordance with 5s housekeeping schedule located on 5s communication board
